On June 5, 2026 Vince Staples is set to release his seventh studio album Cry Baby. This album marks his first project released under Loma Vista Recordings, an independent label Staples signed with after fulfilling his 11-year contract he had with Def Jam Recordings.
Staples is using his newfound creative freedom to the fullest, as highlighted by the three singles released from the project so far: “Blackberry Marmalade,” “White Flag” and “Cotton”. While Staples’ music has had overtly political themes in the past–especially on 2024’s Dark Times–in only three songs Cry Baby has already elevated itself beyond the scope of just music, making a bold statement on the political landscape of 2026.
Vince Staples just dropped album of the year, and it’s about more than the music.
